Designer Grid

Can you turn on a grid in the designer to assist you with aligning tasks, etc. I've trie all kinds of things, but can't get a grid. Or even maybe rules? I'm probably missing something real simple, but can't find.

I've never seen one. Because you aren't designing a GUI, I would say no, there isn't one. Why do you want such precision? All you're doing, basically, is developing an XML file by using graphical tools.|||

Are not the option in the Format menu enough for what you need?

|||They do a good job, but one says "snap to grid" - what grid?|||That's great! I'll print out the xml and give it to everyone! That ought to impress them. On the other side, most anyone can kind of follow the diagram - even if it is just used to create an xml file!|||

You can auto arrange via the Format menu. I'm just curious why you need your components to exactly line up. When I drag them to the surface, I seem to do an adequate job all by myself in order to make them readable.

Never-the-less, if it's a feature you want to see, head over to: http://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver/feedback

I guess the answer is, you can't do that from here. I guess I'm just used to lining things up nicely with VISIO and wanted something like that here. If it's not there, then I'll just get along without it.

Incidentally, there are the "grid" and "Setting guides" in the menu modifications, but even if I place them on a menu or tool bar, they are always unabled! I was hoping maybe they would work.

Thanks!
